Golden Pen Award 2008

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 2, 2008, 7:11 AM
GPA for Animals 08

:iconalexandra35:~Alexandra35 has only been on deviantART for a short time, but in that time she has made a great impact on the animals vector gallery. Her unique style and love of animal vectors make her the best candidate for this award. Lately she has branched out artistic wise but her gallery is still primarily vector. Please make sure and check out her dA homepage, you won't be disappointed.

I create my vectors based on pictures taken by me but mostly my friends. These pictures serve as a general guide for proportions and general details. The whole facial expression, word of eyes, arrangement and the shape of teeth are done by memory. I have problems choosing the best of my works. I do what it pleases me, it is not to appease others tastes. I love the vector gallery and if you need help in the vector category (animals) I'll help with true pleasure.

VBU: Project 10 : Spring

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 19, 2008, 7:17 PM

After around a year since the last VBU project, it is time to announce a new one! :). This one involves all you members out there vectoring what spring means to you.

In the words of *desmo100

What sort of image comes to your mind when you think of spring in your country? Is it nature, flowers, birds, bees, etc.? Lots of color? Love in the air? Is it being free from school work for a couple of weeks? Strolling around on city sidewalks looking at the sky? Going to the beach for the first time since summer? Longer days? The rainy season?

In many countries, the seasons are entirely different from the US--it's hot in spring, or more like autumn, or very cold still. So spring is a lot of things to to many people, but it seems to make us feel hopeful and upbeat--in general. So I guess the contest could center on that ONE thing that comes to mind first when thinking of spring--and describing that one thing together as a vector image!

Thanks for the contest suggestion Jean!

With this project, you have roughly a month and a half :) All submissions will be due by June 1st. Please note the *vbu with all submissions. Don't just stop at one!

The best entries will receive a journal feature :) Do you want to donate a prize? Contact ~mc-cool! :)
Note: All entries must be new since the 20th of April :) and must be vector, no raster elements allowed.

Golden Pen Award 2008

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 18, 2008, 6:04 AM
GPA for Abstract 08

:iconlimkis:*LimKis is a huge staple in the vector community here on deviantART. In only teo short years she has become an extremely popular artist. Her abstract style and fluid artistic pieces make her stand out from the crowd. So much so that eve Adobe has had an interview with the lovely *LimKis. Her works are the definition of abstraction. In her mind shapes and colors all blend to make a beautiful world we've been blessed to see through her works. The Golden Pen Award for the Abstract Vector gallery is gladly given to such a unique artist. We hope she will continue to amaze us with her stunning works. Please visit her gallery if you haven't already done so. Or visit her personal website at:www.limkis.com

My name is Masha Gubar (aka LimKis) and I was born in 1986, in Udmurtia, Russia.
My education consists of art school, in the design department. I'm a professional skilled in vector graphic art, traditional graphic art (drawing), illustrating, magazine graphics, design and firm logo/style. The software I use consists of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, aliassketchbookpro, Flash. My favorite of these softwares being Adobe Illustrator.
Professionally I’m interested in, vector art, illustrating books, traditional graphic art, character design, landscapes, magazine graphics. But things I would like to do or at least to try in the art world are: computer games, designing fantastic animals and plants, character design. Actually I've always worked alone, but I would like to try working in a group, developing a computer game or a cartoon.

I love traveling - it gives me energy, learning something new, reading myths. I'm also interested in semantics, numerology and studying the way color can affect a person’s subconsciousness.
